Obtain the dead-tree Animal Ingredients A to Z from AK Press
The Animal Ingredients List A-Z for iPod is a handy, portable, quick reference for vegans on-the-go. Using the information provided by HappyCow.net, one can access the details of—and alternatives for—the many obvious, not so obvious, and downright hidden animal-sourced ingredients we encounter in our day-to-day lives… all on one's iPod*.
New in Version 2: One can additionally browse a list of E numbers—compiled by The Vegan Society—for possible animal-sourced additives within food products in the EU, New Zealand, and Australia.
I do not have the resources to test every configuration, but the List should function on any iPod with a display as old as a 3rd Generation, including the mini and the nano, although...
Due to differences in the underlying technology, the List reportedly will not work with the iPhone nor the iPod Touch. (Although there is something in the works for you folks, so check back.)
The List needs about 1 Mb of free space on your iPod to copy into.
Version 2.1 – October 21st, 2006 (version history)

* This resource should not be considered authoritative or all-encompassing. Some ingredients listed may be up for debate as to variations in origin, and some ingredients may have been unintentionally omitted due to incomplete sources or recent changes and/or developments in food processing practices. Although overall the list is quite reliable and really rather useful. ↩
